At Child Protection in International Development my job is to support you to have the technical support you need to get your job done.
Strategy.
Strategy asks are we doing the right things (making the right strategic choices) and are we doing them right (effectiveness and efficiency). My role includes supporting and conducting the following activities:
articulating results and making plans to achieve those results
building knowledge about what works, what doesn’t and what’s promising
strengthening skills in strategic planning, programme design and review
facilitating workshops and meetings
problem solving.
Policy & Planning.
Public or Government policy is in essence a battle about equity and the allocation of public money. Knowing how to leverage policies and funding from government is a key part of child protection. My role includes supporting and conducting the following activities:
leveraging policy and financial commitments from Government for children
policy analysis
mapping decision making levels within Government
developing, testing and reviewing child safeguarding policies and mechanisms
Nurturing and expanding partnerships with civil society and the private sector.
Programmes, Communication & Advocacy.
Our knowledge about what types of child protection interventions work, don’t work or are promising is constantly changing. My role includes supporting and conducting the following activities:
analysis and rapid mapping of child protection systems
designing and reviewing child protection programming in development and humanitarian contexts, and bridging the nexus between the two. This includes a range of intervention types such as:
violence prevention and response for women, children, and adolescents; alternative care; justice for children; parenting programmes; birth and civil registration; psychosocial programming; children in armed conflict; C4D in violence prevention and family strengthening; and strengthening community child protection practices.
